How to Use Your Cloud Card

Tap the back of your card to a phone's NFC sensor to open your digital profile in one motion.

Always use the back of the card

The NFC chip sits on the back of your Cloud Card. Hold that side against the phone. The printed front will not trigger a tap.

iPhone

Hold the card to the top of the phone

On iPhone, the NFC sensor is at the top edge, near the earpiece, notch, or Dynamic Island.

iPhone NFC location

Bring the back of your card to the top of the iPhone, not the center of the screen or the camera bump. Keep the card still for a second until the profile notification appears.

Unlock the phone first. iPhone NFC works from the lock screen on most models, but a brief hold against the top edge is more reliable when the screen is on.

Android

Hold the card to the center of the back

On most Android phones, the NFC sensor is in the center of the back. Exact placement can vary by manufacturer.

Android NFC location

Hold the back of your card against the center of the phone's back. If nothing happens, slowly slide the card a little higher or lower. Some models place the reader slightly off-center.

NFC may be turned off

Some Android devices ship with NFC disabled. Open Settings > Connected devices (or Connections) and turn NFC on, then try the tap again.

Quick tips

If a tap does not register

A few small adjustments usually fix a missed tap.

Remove thick cases

Wallet cases and bulky covers can block the NFC signal. Try tapping with the case off if the first attempt fails.

Hold still for 1 to 2 seconds

Keep the back of the card against the sensor without waving it. A brief, steady hold is more reliable than a quick swipe.

Unlock the screen

Make sure the phone is awake and unlocked. Some Android devices ignore NFC taps while the screen is off.
